It is with great sadness that the Wakefield family announces the death of Joyce Pauline Wakefield. “Nanny” passed away peacefully at home in Osgoode, Ontario on January 1, 2026, after a short illness.
Born in Sackville, New Brunswick to Frederick and Pauline (Lawrence) Doncaster on April 20, 1936, Joyce leaves behind her sons, Peter (Patricia) of Osgoode, Ontario and Derek (Charlene) of Sackville, New Brunswick, and sister Amy Weaver of Illinois. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Bruce (Brittany), Martin and Jonathan (Bree) of North Carolina, Christine (Peter) of Sackville, New Brunswick, Melissa (Geof) of Saint John, New Brunswick, and Jeremy (Katie) of Winchester, Ontario. Joyce is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Evan, Michael and Lexie, Rory, Caleb and Porter.
After raising her three children, Joyce returned to school to become a Registered Nursing Assistant (RNA) in 1984, graduating at the top of her class. She proudly supported the health and wellbeing of her community through her work at the Sackville Memorial Hospital for over 10 years. Joyce loved tending her flower garden, collecting Hummels and crystal, and her daily “Timmy’s.”
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, daughter, Pamela and grandson, Michael, as well as brothers, Donald, Frederick “Ted”, Robert “Bud” and Bliss Doncaster and sister, Anna Mason.
Arrangements are under the care of Tubman Funeral Homes in Kars, Ontario. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
