In loving memory of John (Johannes, Han) Verton 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John at the age of 95. Beloved husband to Alma (nee Arsenault) Verton of 68 years. Loving father of David Verton (Lori) and Keith Verton (Helen). Proud grandfather of Shoshana, Naomi, Broady, Kate, Brianne, Nathanya, Christina, and John. Proud Great Grandfather of Brynn, Theo, Rowan, Mirabel and Aleana. Dear brother of Lenie Boers Verton and Cees Verton. Predeceased by his father Jo (Johan) and his mother Co (Jacoba) (nee Van der Toorn). He will be missed by his many loving nieces and nephews and his loving companion dog, Lexi.

John was born in Apeldoorn, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1949. John and Alma married in 1958.

John arrived in Canada owning nothing but a trunk of clothes but he was a hard worker and entrepreneur. He started one of Canada’s first Cable TV businesses and later sold it to semi retire with his chicken farm.

Grandpa (Opa) John will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of playing UNO, sailing, windsurfing, camping, feeding Lexi under the table and his devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd., (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) Nepean, on Friday August 8 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.  Funeral Service will be at the Garden Chapel on Saturday August 9 at 9:30 am followed by a Reception.
