John Eldon Scrim

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John E. Scrim, who died peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on July 10, 1938, John was the beloved son of the late Gladwyn and May Scrim. He will be forever remembered by his loving wife Carmel Scrim (nee Dupuis), and as the cherished father of Jennifer Scrim, Mary Catherine Scrim (Todd Kelly), and Carolyn Hopewell (Chad Hopewell).

John was a proud and devoted grandfather to Rebecca, Kevin, Nathan, Luke, Andrew, and Leo, who brought him endless joy and laughter. He is also survived by his sister Mary R. Scrim, and sister-in-law Theresa Howard.

John was a dedicated teacher with the Carleton Board of Education for 33 years, remembered for his patience, humor, and commitment to learning.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Garden Terrace, whose compassion and kindness provided John with comfort and dignity over the past two and a half years.

Friends and family may pay their respects at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Stittsville, beginning at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception in the church hall. A private internment for the family will follow.

John will be remembered for his warmth, gentle humor, and quiet strength – a man who deeply loved his family and lived a life marked by kindness and integrity.
