JOHN MacKINNON (1947-2023)

We are saddened to announce the passing of John William MacKinnon on Friday, April 7, at the age of 75. A loving father, grandfather, devoted athlete, motorcyclist and outdoorsman, John passed away at Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital with his three children by his side. John is lovingly remembered by his daughter Julie (David Duchesne), sons Marc (Julia MacKinnon) and Daniel (Joshua Abrams), as well as his six beautiful grandchildren (Jack, Rose, Alice, Amelia, Phoenix and Rockwell). Predeceased by his parents, Bruce and Patricia, John is also survived by his brother Peter MacKinnon (Jacqueline MacKinnon) and cousin Carolyn Chu, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Through his cherished years, John enjoyed swimming, marathon running, fishing, and creating memories at the family cottage. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts. The family would like to thank palliative physician Dr. Jennifer Brodeur, and the tremendous staff at Élisabeth Bruyère for caring for John with kindness and compassion during his final days. Donations to the Bruyère Foundation in John’s honour are welcome.

In celebration of John’s life, a visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, at 12:30pm, with a service to follow in the Chapel at 2pm, at the Tubman Funeral Home Westboro Chapel, 403 Richmond Road.
