John Leavens Dornan

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John Dornan on June 7th, 2024, the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, following a brief illness.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  John is survived by his adoring wife and soul mate, Judith who he cherished for 60 years.  He was the devoted father of Lissa Dornan (Giulio) and proud grandfather of Justyna (Anthony).  He was the cherished brother of Richard (Jean), and was very close to his special cousin, Bruce Dickie (Jackie).  He will be greatly missed by his sister-in-law, Denise Désabrais (Robert) and his brother-in-law, Léo Paul Léonard (Huguette).  He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, in particular his special godson Yves Léonard.

John was an extraordinary man who was greatly loved by his very large circle of friends whom he considered his extended family.  He was a very talented pianist, organist, chorister and ballroom dancer.  John and Judith shared these passions together for many years.

John will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and love.  He always thought of others first and put their needs before his own.  As we remember John’s legacy, let us all carry out daily acts of kindness and love in his memory.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray for us.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church located at 153 Woodroffe Avenue on Tuesday, June 18th at 10 am followed by the funeral mass at 11 am.  Family and friends are invited to join the family at a reception that will follow the mass.
