With her family by her side, Joe-Anne passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, April 21. Loving wife to Bill for 64 years, mother to Peggy (Randy) and Lorrie (David) and proud grandmother to Michael, Jeremy (Cata), Alex (Sarah) and Jack.
Daughter of Fred and Doris Carter, and loving baby sister to John (Wilma) and Aileen (Allan), and supportive Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Joe-Anne grew up in Ottawa, attended Lisgar Collegiate and completed her training as a Registered Nurse in 1957 at Toronto General Hospital.
A portrait painter, crafter, quilter and lover of flowers and baking, Joe-Anne was a fierce supporter of women, the environment, her community, her church, and above all else, her family. Bill and Joe spent 40 wonderful years boating on the Rideau Lakes. She was an active member of Christ Church Bells Corners, serving as head of the Altar Guild, and a sister of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for 37 years.
While she will be missed terribly, her spirit and character live on in her family and all those she touched.
In recognition of her unwavering positive spirit, the family requests that donations be directed to Christ Church Bells Corners or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (www.cnib.ca)
