Joan Carolyn Fulcher (née Acres)

It is with love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Carolyn Fulcher on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the age of 78. Joan is now reunited with her beloved husband and the love of her life, Simon Fulcher. She will be deeply missed by her children, Leanne and Ryan Fulcher, her extended family, and her many cherished friends.

Joan lived a rich and vibrant life, filled with adventure, travel, and laughter. A gifted storyteller, she never met a stranger she couldn’t befriend. Her career spanned many decades, from magazine editor, to business owner, and later working as Communications Coordinator at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

In retirement, Joan embraced the things she loved most — family, friends, travelling the world, the family cottage, knitting for the Snowsuit Fund, and hosting parties for the neighbourhood children. Her warmth, humour, and generosity touched everyone she met.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff and PSWs at Wellington West Retirement Home for their care and kindness over the past two years.

A visitation will be held at Tubman Funeral Homes Westboro Chapel, 403 Richmond Road, on Monday, August 25, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a service in their chapel at 3:00 p.m. Friends and family are then invited to gather for a reception and celebration of Joan’s life from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Wellington West Retirement Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be deeply appreciated.
