Jean Meakin

Peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Ottawa Hospital, General Campus at the age of 89.

Loving and devoted wife of Canon J. Allan D. Meakin (predeceased). Proud and cherished mother of John (Cathy), Jennifer (predeceased) and Andrea (Dennis) .

Very loved and devoted nana to Thomas (Amber), Megan (Gary), Peter (Kathleen), Maxwell (Natasha) and Avery (Jonathon).

Jean will be lovingly and fondly remembered by extended family and friends.

Jean was a graduate of Bishop’s University in Lennoxville ,Quebec.  Her first career was at CSIS, following that she was a great support to Allan in his ministry with The Anglican Church of Canada.  They worked together for over 30 years throughout the diocese of Ottawa and 8 years in the aided diocese of Athabasca. Jean and Allan enjoyed many years together in retirement at their beloved home on the shores of Round Lake.

Fondly referred to as “Shine”, Jean was born in Richmond, Ontario as the only child to adoring parents Horace and Verna Hemphill.

Many thanks to the staff and management over the years at Bridlewood and Riverpath Retirement Communities for the kindness and care.

Special thanks to Joanne, Mary and Gisele who supported Jean with companionship and friendship over the years.

The family would also wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the professional staff of the Orthopedic floor of 6NE for their care and attention to Jean in her final days.

Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean on Tuesday, August 23 form 2:00-4:00 and from 7:00-9:00pm. A funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, 2345 Alta Vista Drive at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 24.
