Janice Norma Eliosoff (née Macalister), 78, of Ottawa, died on October 16 after being struck by a car while walking her beloved whippet, Sheba.
Born and raised in Montreal, she journeyed on to Toronto; Brockville, Ontario; Louisiana; and finally, for the last 20 years, Ottawa.
An ardent reader, painter, raconteur, and active in Ottawa's thriving writing groups, she would start a conversation with anyone at any time. Outspoken, unpredictable, entertaining, she will be remembered by many who only met her once, or knew her only as "the cool and stylish lady who walks her whippet in Sandy Hill".
Predeceased by son Tom in 2017, she is survived by sons Jacob, Jeremy and Daniel; daughter-in-law Mallory; granddaughter Holly; Sheba; and her devoted husband of 53 years, Ron.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at Tubman Funeral Homes Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, (between Bayshore & Baseline Rd.) Nepean, on Sunday, November 1, 2–4 pm. Words of remembrance at 3 pm.
The words of remembrance will be livestreamed.
