It is with great sadness that the family of Janet Potter announce her passing on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Born May 17th, 1945, in Osgoode, Ontario to the late Helen and Harry Nixon, Janet was raised on the family farm with her brother, Ron (Judy). It was there that she learned the value of both hard work and education, setting the foundation for her future. Early on, Janet realized her passion for learning and applied to teachers' college, where she met her late husband, Neil Potter. Together, they raised their 3 children, Mike (Lindsay), Tara (Kevin), and Ryan (Jessica), creating a life where books and radio set the framework for critical thinking and family room debates. Janet’s zest for knowledge, love for baking and gardening, and creative spirit lives on in her grandchildren, Claire, Emily, Aaron and Arlo. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, including her niece and nephew, Kylie (Steve) and Todd (Erin), cousin Nancy (Roger), closest confidante, Ruth (Wibb), and her personal neighbourhood watch team, Barb Cretzman, Bob Guibeault, Bill Buchanan and Sonia Williams.
Visitation will take place at Kars Chapel - Tubman Funeral Home, 1610 Roger Stevens Drive, on Monday, December 15th, 1-3pm and 6 - 8pm. Memorial service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, December 16th, 11am.
Those wishing to make memorial donations may do so to the PKD Foundation of Canada.
