With heavy hearts, the family is sad to announce the passing of Jane “Janie” Brooks on Friday, December 12th, 2025, at the age of 74 years, after a short battle with cancer.
Jane will be greatly missed by her beloved daughters, Shelley (Tom) and Kerry; grandchildren Jessie and Haylea; cherished great-grandchildren Jayden and Carter; and great- nephews Brendan and Robbie. She also leaves behind close siblings, Carol Brooks and Barry Brooks. Predeceased by parents, Hilda and John Brooks.
Jane’s family was the centre of her world. She was always there for them. No matter the time or reason, Jane would pick up the phone in a heartbeat if any of them called. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was more than a grandmother; she loved and cared for them as if they were her own children.
She cherished being together with family, whether it was a special occasion or any ordinary day. She truly enjoyed the company. She found joy in finding new recipes, baking, shopping, and reading in her free time. She loved nothing more than soaking up the sun during the summertime or traveling during the winter months, most often headed to Florida, embracing every memory along the way.
Jane had a soft spot for dogs, especially her Yorkshire Terriers throughout her life—Killer, Bandit, and Bubbles—who were never far from her side while she had them.
The family extends many thanks to Dr. Ray and the primary palliative care team nurses for their support and dedication, which allowed Jane to spend her final days in the comfort of her own home, as she wished.
As per Jane’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life may be held at a later date.
In memory of Jane, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society to help fund research and support for those affected by cancer.
May Jane’s beautiful soul rest in peace in heaven, forever remembered with love, always.
