Marshall, James E. “Jim”

January 9, 1933 – August 26, 2022

Peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the May Court Hospice in Ottawa, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Sandra (Parton) and dear father of Christy (Richard), Suzanne (Gerry) and Jacqueline (Pierre). Loving grandfather of Thomas, Connor, Gen, Chloe, Cam, Justin and Reagan. Predeceased by his sister Lil (Eskil). Brother-in-law to John (Louise). Also left to mourn are his five nieces.

Jim was a graduate of the University of British Columbia and an economist for Forestry Canada, where he had the respect of all who worked with him. He was a kind, unassuming man, always ready with a smile, and a worthy role model for his children and grandchildren. His knowledge of gardening and lifelong passion for propagating magnolia trees is now his legacy in the Nepean neighbourhood where he lived, at the Arboretum in Ottawa, and far beyond.

A private family gathering will be planned at Merivale United Church. Sincere thanks to Dr. Andrew Douglas of CPMA, Nurse Judy and the many public and private PSWs from Bayshore Home Health, as well as the compassionate staff at the May Court Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care Ottawa would be appreciated.
