James Hugh Lougheed

James (Jim) Hugh Lougheed passed away on Dec 4, 2025 in Ottawa at 80 years of age. Loving husband of Agnes (nee Rose). Beloved father of Catherine (Kelly), Jane, David (Jerna) and Ted (Angie). Proud Papa of Ben (Faith), Emma (Billy), Sam and Maira. Special friend of Mel, Tom & Vera, and Janet.

Jim was a talented and innovative electrical engineer who spent much of his career as a systems engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems - Canada. He excelled in his field of optics, machine vision and robotics. He was the holder of many patents and awards, and continued to work up until his passing. His grandchildren have many fond memories of creating inventions with Papa in his workshop. His teaching inspired in them a deep appreciation for science, nature and the joy of discovery, leaving a legacy of curiosity and creativity.

Jim was an animal lover, leaving behind his beloved dogs Daphne and Annie, many cats, and other barnyard critters including donkeys and peacocks. He was passionate about preserving the natural environment. He was a stargazer, an accomplished photographer and a skilled drone pilot. He took great joy in living on his farm, spending time with family and taking on new projects.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and animal pals.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will take place at Tubman Funeral Home - Carp Chapel

115 Rivington St in Carp, ON on Sunday Dec 14, 2025 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memoriam donations made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada are appreciated by the family.
