Jacqueline (Jacquey) Murchison

September 8, 1926 — June 3, 2025

After a truly wonderful life, and having given great joy, care, and love to others, Jacquey passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2025 at the age of 98. She was born in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Quebec, and when WWII began her family moved to Ottawa. Jacquey was delighted to be moving closer to her much-loved family cottage on Green Lake. She was a beautiful diver and enjoyed swimming the length of the lake. In high school at Glebe Collegiate, Jacquey met her life-long friend Grace Murchison, who later became her sister-in-law. Jacquey did her Nursing training at the Toronto General Hospital and for those three years she dated Ken Murchison who was studying Law at Osgoode Hall. After graduation, Jacquey and Ken returned to Ottawa and were married in 1950. Jacquey nursed at the Civic Hospital, replaced a nurse at times in a doctor’s office and she got her a B.N.Sc. (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa. In her personal life, using her nursing training and keen sense of observation, she saved many lives. Jacquey was a very creative thinker, great writer and artist, a devoted wife, and a caring stay-at-home mother. Jacquey and Ken had a wonderful life together and celebrated their 50th Anniversary. They were loving and inspiring parents who encouraged their children, Don (Sue), Margo and Keith (Karen) to always do their best and follow their dreams. Jacquey was very proud of and greatly enjoyed her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jacquey and Ken made great friends through the Granite Curling Club and the Royal Ottawa Golf Club. They also enjoyed going on several lovely trips, but most special of all was time spent with family and friends at their beloved Green Lake cottage. We, her family, are grateful for Jacquey’s wonderful life and will always cherish the memories we have of her. Following Jacquey’s wishes, a private burial service and family gathering will take place.
