Iva Jean James

Stittsville

May 15, 1931 - October 21, 2023

JAMES (Robinson) Iva Jean.

"Absent from the body present with the Lord."

Peacefully, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, she stepped into heaven.

Predeceased by her precious husband and best friend, Homer James. Dear mother of David (Debbie) and Ruthanne (John Robinson). Loving Grandma of Jennifer (Adesina Johnson), Christina (Greg Heath), Joel, Katie (David Van Veen) and Emily. Predeceased by her granddaughter Stephanie.  Affectionate great-grandmother of Naomi, Hope, Gregory, Ava, Layla, Joy and Thomas. Sister of Courtney Robinson (Esther) and sister-in-law Ruth Smith (Lowell deceased). Predeceased by her sister Erma Vossler (Merold) and brother Lloyd Armstrong (Cheryl).

Iva was born in Waltham, Quebec to parents Clifford and Katherine (Armstrong) Robinson.

After graduating from high school, the next year (1948) at age 17, Iva taught a combined class of students from grade 1-7 in Ladysmith, Quebec.

In 1949 she taught school in Fort Coulonge, Quebec.

In 1953, she graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Ottawa Civic Hospital.

She often was the pianist for her husband who was a soloist with the Billy Graham Association.

For over 50 years, Iva loved living in her house and looking over the fields on the farm on Fallowfield Road, Stittsville. She worked hard caring for her family and cooking for the many young men who lived in her home for the summer and worked to harvest the hay crop.

She was a woman of action. She was devastated by the loss of her husband in 2010. In spite of this, she found a determination to keep going independently, living long enough to celebrate the births of seven of her great-grandchildren.

She had hoped to remain living on the farm the rest of her life, but at age 91, she had to move to the Waterford Grand retirement community in Barrhaven because of her declining mobility. She was well cared for there by the loving staff.

Above all, Iva lived a life of faith centered around her service for and love of Jesus Christ. She was a woman of prayer.

Visitation will be held at the Woodvale Pentecostal Church, 205 Greenbank Road, Nepean on Monday from 12:30-1:30 pm, prior to the Celebration of her life at 1:30 pm. There will be a Reception at the church after the service with Interment to follow at Stittsville United Church Cemetery.
