It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Iris M. Haughton on April 2, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on June 28, 1926, Iris was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.
Iris was predeceased by her beloved parents, Johnathan and Miriam Haughton, her sisters Lorel, Florence, Ruby, and Miriam, and her brother Ephraim. She leaves behind a cherished legacy, including her brother Benjamin; her three adopted children, Trevor, Novelette, and Robert; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, particularly Shereemer and Tyrek, and a host of relatives and friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
A special word of gratitude is extended to Elaine, Iris’s dear friend, whose unwavering support and kindness have been invaluable. Elaine’s dedication to Iris throughout her life and her pivotal role in the funeral arrangements have been a source of comfort to all who mourn Iris’s passing.
Iris spent many joyful years as a beloved nanny, a role through which she touched the lives of numerous children with her nurturing spirit and loving heart. Her commitment to the well-being and development of the children she cared for left a lasting impact on many families.
In her final years, Iris was lovingly cared for by the nurses at Medex Extended Care Nursing Home. We are deeply grateful for their compassion and dedication to Iris’s comfort and well-being. Iris was a devoted member of the Church of God of Prophecy, where she remained an active and faithful member, cherishing her church family and the fellowship she found there.
As we say goodbye to Iris, we celebrate her remarkable life and the countless ways in which she enriched our lives. Her spirit of love, her nurturing presence, and her unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May her soul rest in peace and may her legacy of love and kindness continue to inspire those left behind.
