Helene Lola LeBarron (nee Rivington)

July 3, 1934 — January 1, 2024

After a brief illness, Helene passed away peacefully at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice surrounded by her family on January 1, 2024.  Helene is predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Keith LeBarron.  She is the loving mother of Kathy (Rob) Webb, Greg (Christine) LeBarron, Joy (Rodney) Moors and the proud grandmother of  Matthew (Jess) Webb, Cameron (Katherine) Webb, Allison (TK) Montgomery, Brandon (Maddie) LeBarron, Alexandra (Caleb) LeBarron, Keenan (Emily) LeBarron, Ryland (Deanna) Dean, Marissa (Tom) Dean, McKenzie (Liam) Dean, Autumn Moors, Kate Moors and Kent Moors.  Helene is predeceased by her parents Thomas Ruggles and Myrtle Rivington, siblings Neville (Bunty) Rivington, Glenn (Olive) Rivington, Donald (Erva) Rivington, Douglas (Helen) Rivington and sister in law Elva Martin. She will be fondly remembered by all her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Helene was born and raised on a farm in Carp, Ontario. She was the youngest of the 5 siblings and the only girl. As a young girl she was very active in sports, the church, and the 4H club.  Helene headed to Kingston for post secondary school and was a graduate of the Kingston General Hospital Nursing Class of 1956.  She worked at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for 38 years in many areas (pediatrics, surgical day care, recovery room).  Helene was a very faithful person from a young age, she taught Sunday school when she was young and in her later years served on the church Altar Guild and enjoyed Pastoral Care visiting.  In her retirement she enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach with her life long partner Keith where they enjoyed golf, bridge, and activities with friends.  Wherever Helene went she always made friends and would be the first to help out as needed.  Helene loved the game of bridge and was very good at it.  In her later years when she was no longer able to go out to play she was often heard commenting how thankful she was for the invention of zoom.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and Dr. Bose at the NACU at The Ottawa Hospital as well as the nurses and Dr. Spacek at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice for the kind, respectful and compassionate care they provided to Helene.

Family and friends may visit at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd, Nepean (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.), on Friday January 5th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday January 6th at 2 pm, St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 930 Watson St, Ottawa.
