Hazel Doyle

Hazel Doyle (née Forrest), aged 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Salvation Army Grace Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest "Ernie" and a loving mother to Walter (Jim) (Susan Walker), Joyce (Michael Bradley), Gary (Mark) (Catherine-Ann), and Gaye (Moira) (Timothy Sullivan). Her grandchildren (Aimée, Kevin, Natalie, Laura, Thomas, Jennifer, Emily, Benjamin, Paige, and Fiona) and great-grandchildren (Jase, Jake, Eva, Oliver, Michael, Asher, Samuel, and Elle) will greatly miss their ‘Gam’.

Hazel was predeceased by her children Jeffrey and Cathy, her parents Walter and Elizabeth (née Doyle), and her sister Barbara. She was a lively and social woman who was often seen walking her German Shepherd, Kelsey, and her Papillon, Pepper, while chatting with her neighbors. In her later years, despite reduced mobility, she continued to enjoy riding her scooter around the neighborhood with her dogs. Aging did not deter her from caring for her dogs or socializing with friends. 

Her love for German Shepherds began when she bought her first at age 18, a passion that lasted for the next 80 years until her passing. During her final years at Grace Manor, Hazel was cared for by many compassionate nurses and staff, and the family sincerely thanks those who went above and beyond to help her. 

At Hazel’s request, the memorial service and interment will be private, for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Salvation Army Grace Manor in her memory are appreciated.
