Zay, Gwendolen (nee Thompson)

Passed away at the age of 99 at the Perley Rideau and Veteran Health Care Center on Sunday, July 11th, 2021. Predeceased by her husband Michael Zay. Loving mother of Elizabeth Munn, Richard Zay and Susan Janssen. Proud grandmother of Stacy (Mitchell) Poisson, Tanner Bedard, Heather Janssen and Trevor Janssen. Cherished great grandmother of Rosaleigh Geldart and Jasper Poisson. Predeceased by her parents, William and Annie Thompson, and her siblings, Harry Thompson, Lily Thompson, Catherine Goffin, Anne Mulligan, John Thompson and Hazel Rivington. Gwendolen will be fondly remembered by her large close-knit family.
Gwendolyn was a 25+ year camper at Red Pine Camp, where she met her future husband, Michael, in 1951. She was an active volunteer with the Nepean Horticultural Society and City View United Church, always finding a way to support her community. She will be remembered for her loving, caring, and giving nature, along with her strong family and community values.
Visitation will be held at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa on Saturday, July 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Pre-registration is required and can be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com/obituary/Gwendolen-Zay or by calling 613-722-6559.
