Gunter Splett

Peacefully on Tuesday November 8, 2022, Gunter went to join his cherished wife, Karin. He will be dearly missed by his children Petra Walker (Thomas) and Andreas Splett (Monika) along with his grandchildren who gave Opa such joy, Joshua, Amanda, Olivia and Jacob.

Born in Neuenhagen near Berlin, Germany, on October 22, 1939. Pop trained as a pastry chef before his adventurous spirit took him to many countries. He settled here in Canada after meeting our Mom. Through hard work, they created a beautiful life in Ottawa filled with the love of family and friends. Predeceased by his beloved sister, Marianne Ruhmann (Bernd), he will be fondly remembered by all his family and his many friends here and in Germany.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday November 20th, 2022, at 1pm in the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Baseline and Bayshore). A reception will take place after the service.

The family wish to thank all the dedicated staff at the Elisabeth Bruyere Palliative Care Unit for their kind, compassionate care.
