STREMES, Graham M
November 15, 1921 - February 11, 2023
WWII Veteran
The family of Graham Stremes is saddened to announce his passing, predeceased by his wife Amy of 71 years in 2021. He leaves behind his sons David (Elaine Harvey) and Carl (Joanne), grandsons Cameron and Christopher (Sam), and great-grandchildren Troy and Ella.
Graham was a wonderful and loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and will be missed by all of us. He will also be missed by his cherished Bevan Avenue friends, where Graham and Amy lived for 61 years.
During his life time he was a Cub Scouter, served overseas in the 1st Survey Regiment, RCA, worked for Boy Scouts Association, and the National Film Board before a 35-year career with Export Development Corporation from which he retired at age 65. Graham was a founding member of the Ottawa Valley Associated Railroaders and a long-time member of Mensa. Sadly, he relinquishes his title of Canada’s oldest Mensa member, but has been granted his final wish of being reunited with Amy. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Amica Westboro Park, and those from Carefor and Bayshore Medical who helped care for Graham, especially in his last days. A very special thank you goes out to Dr. Lisa Cross for her exceptional compassion and care.
A Celebration of life for Amy and Graham will be held at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, on Friday, June 2 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. The family asks that you consider a donation to the Cancer Society or Dementia Society.
