Glenda Joan Foster

October 30, 1941 — September 14, 2025

Glenda Joan Foster (née Rothwell) passed away peacefully at the Viva Retirement Home on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Joan spent a short time living in Kingsville before returning home to Ottawa. She built a meaningful career that began at Met Life, continued at Point Pelee National Park, and concluded with her retirement from Transport Canada.

As a mother, Joan shared a very close relationship with her daughter Debbie. Daily phone calls, travel, celebrations, and in her final months, devoted care. Joan’s love of a great family kitchen party will be deeply missed by both Debbie and her son-in-law Mike.

Joan was especially proud of her grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) and Amber. She cherished many trips to Florida with them, along with attending dance recitals and soccer games. The girls will fondly remember Gramma’s sharp sense of humor and her famous lemon squares.

Joan joins her loving husband of 41 years, Paul, her parents Colin and Marguerite, and her sister Elaine (late David). She is survived by her niece Lori (Charlie) and their children, Ryan and Chelsea.

The family extends heartfelt and sincere thanks to Dr. Andrea McDonald, Donna Fe Harding, and the nurses and PSWs at the Viva Retirement Home in Barrhaven for their compassionate care.

A private funeral will be held for Joan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
