Gisela Chapman

It is with great sadness that the family of Gisela Chapman announces her passing on Saturday May 2, 2026 at the age of 87 years. Gisela will be lovingly remembered by her son James, her son-in-law Charles Hall, her sister Ilona Taylor and her nephew Malcolm Taylor. She was predeceased by her husband Paul and her daughter Deborah. Born in Germany during the war, Gisela came to Canada in 1956 at the age of 18, initially to live with her Uncle in St. Catherines, then moving to Montreal where she met her loving husband Paul, where they married. After numerous moves within Canada, they settled in Ottawa, raising two children and beginning a lifelong career at the Bank of Montreal. She enjoyed travelling, usually to Germany and England to visit relatives, and extensively throughout Canada. Gisela also loved to garden, turning the backyard into a paradise of flowers exploding with colour throughout the year. Friends and family are invited to the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa (at Roosevelt) on Tuesday June 16, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.
