Gerald Raymond Sutherland

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Raymond Sutherland on January 27, 2024, at the age of 91 years. Devoted husband of 67 years to Kathleen ‘Kay’ Sutherland (nee Pearson).  He will be missed by his brother, David (Cathy) and by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Born in Almonte, Gerry was one of eight children who were raised on the farm. He is predeceased by siblings: Doris, John, Bill, Helen, Frances and Phyllis.  Gerry continued to love the country, enjoying frequent visits to his cousins’ home across from the family homestead, attending country fairs and many country drives.  Gerry was an avid cyclist who biked across Canada (twice) and the United States.  He had many wonderful trips and cruises with Kay. Square dancing competitions, attending church activities and visiting family and friends were among his favourite pastimes.  Gerry will be remembered for his charm, positive nature, and humorous storytelling.  

A Visitation for close family and friends will be held at Tubman Funeral Homes-Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Wednesday January 31 from 11 am until time of Funeral Service at 12 pm.  Private family burial to follow. The service will be livestreamed  for those unable to attend.
