Georgina Ellen Garland

It is with profound sadness that the family of Georgina Ellen Garland (née MacRae) announces her passing on July 26th, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born on July 13th, 1936, Georgina grew up on a farm near Munster and attended Richmond and South Carleton High Schools before leaving to study at Queen’s.

For those lucky enough to have had her in their lives, Georgina was an infectiously positive, happy person. Her love of people made a career in teaching (Bell, Almonte, Glebe and Nepean High Schools) and her extensive volunteering (24 years at the Queensway Carleton Hospital) natural choices. Following retirement she became an avid golfer, which was as much or more about spending time with her friends as it was the golf itself.

Georgina is predeceased by her siblings, Jean (Ben) McEwen and Dick (Doreen) MacRae, and her parents, Earl and Ethel MacRae.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Brian Garland and Julie Garland (Jeff Naphin), and her grandson, Connor.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Tubman Funeral Homes Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) Nepean, on August 9th, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at Munster United Church, 2881 Munster Road, Munster on August 10th, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Burial and reception to follow.
