George Hiram Kennedy

September 20, 1929 – December 6, 2022

With great sadness, the family of George Kennedy announce his passing at home after a long struggle with COPD. He was loved by his devoted wife of 65 years, Ruth (nee Seabrook), and loved and admired by his children, Janet Foley (Mark), Heather Kirk (Howard), David (predeceased, 1988), and Peggy Brule (Gary Foster). He enjoyed ten grandchildren, Vincent (Charly), Shaun (Ashley), Blair (Sarah) and Grant Foley; Joshua, Duncan (Katie), Rebecca (Kris) and Scott (Lauren) Kirk; and Connor (Karly) and Robyn (Brian) Brule; as well as six great-grandchildren Charley, Everett and Kennedy Foley, Brooke, Hannah and Kolby Kirk. George was predeceased by his parents George Sr. and Jessie Kennedy, his sisters Lois Whiting (Jim) and Helen Williams (Cym), and his brothers-in-law John (Doris) and Eldon (Joan) Seabrook.  He is survived by his sister Jean Cartwright of BC.

George was a graduate of Kemptville Agricultural School, class of ’46, and he lived all of his life on the farm at Dunrobin.  He enjoyed farming as well as his construction business, cottage life and travelling with Ruth. He was past President of the Carp Agricultural Society, was a Torbolton Township Councillor for a term, and was instrumental in starting the Torbolton Historical Society. He was a lifelong member of the Dunrobin United Church.  George enjoyed his fraternal affiliations with Carleton Masonic Lodge #465, the Scottish Rite 32nd degree and Tunis Shriners. Many thanks to Rev. Debbie Roi for her spiritual guidance over the past few years.

Visitation will be held at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 115 Rivington St., Carp on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 1:00pm, with a service to follow at 3:00pm.  There will be Celebration of Life afterwards at the Carp Agricultural Hall from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.  Please consider wearing a mask if you will be attending.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Montreal or the Dunrobin United Church Cemetery Fund, or the charity of your choice.
