Our dearest Gary passed unexpectedly Tuesday 27th following complications from surgery, days before his 75TH birthday. He leaves behind his wife Sue, his sister Bonnie and her husband Roy, his son Wayne, his step children David, Colleen and Katie, his nephews Chad, Bradley and Ryan and his grandchildren Christopher, Isak and Zachary. As Gary never met a stranger, he also leaves behind innumerable family, friends and acquaintances whose lives were made brighter by his easy laugh and his humour that invited all to be in on the joke.
Gary had a long and successful career in sales, working for such companies as Ariens, Homelite and Husqvarna which took him to many corners of Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes; his hard work, honesty and humour turned simple sales accounts into lifelong friendships. Gary loved a good deal, but never at the expense of others; he sold his investment properties to his tenants- enabling them to become home owners. Gary adored a great holiday and he quietly and generously paid for both friends and family to take luxurious vacations to share his joy. Gary was generous in every way- with his time, his love and his gifts; as much as we are devastated by his death, we will be forever grateful for his presence in our lives, and our only regret is that he is gone far too soon.
As per his wishes, Gary will be cremated, and no service will be held at this time. If you wish to honour his memory, go out and enjoy life as he did. Go to a great Chinese buffet, have a bargain breakfast at a mom-and-pop diner and most importantly, when you go through a drive through, gas station or checkout- try to make that human connection, no matter how small, to remind yourself that in life no one who crosses your path can ever really be a stranger.
