JOAN GAIL PEPLER (née Purdy)
January 18,1933 to November 18, 2025
Gail passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family, at her home in Manotick at 92 years of age.
She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Roger Pepler (2000). They were married in October 1956 and they had four beloved daughters: Pam (Stephen) Campbell, Gail (Geof) Bailey, Andrea Pepler, and Julie Dubeau. After living in Toronto, Montreal, and Fredericton, the Peplers finally settled in the village of Manotick in 1972. Gail and Roger worked side by side operating an antique business when they first moved to Manotick.
Gail was a cherished grandmother to her 10 grandchildren: Scott Campbell (Sophie), Lindsay Campbell (Shawn), Andrew (Victoria) Campbell, and David (Olivia) Campbell; Matthew Bailey (Maisie), Kaitlyn Bailey (Nate), Leanne Bailey (Peter), and Sarah Bailey; Jakob Dubeau, and Luke Dubeau. She is also survived by her two great grandsons: Teddy and Arthur.
Special thanks to all her caregivers over the years, who enabled Gail to live out her final years in her own home, by the Rideau River, that brought her so much peace and joy.
Gail was born in Toronto and attended post-secondary school at Chamberlain College in Boston, where she studied interior design and merchandising. She lived her life with compassion, kindness and love, devoted to her family, and to her Christian faith. Her treasured Bible was always with her. She was a gentle soul who led a quiet life but was happy hosting many, many family gatherings, tea parties, and church groups in her home – always going the extra mile to ensure there was home cooking and baking. She took great pleasure in being generous, warm, and welcoming to everyone who crossed her path. Her life passions included dogs, flowers, music, and Heartland. We will hold onto our memories of her dearly.
