Fern Carpenter

The family announces with sadness the passing of Elizabeth “Fern” Carpenter, who died peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 24, 2026, in her 88th year. She was predeceased by her husband, Don Carpenter.

Fern will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. She was a loving mother to Bruce and to Sheila (Jeff), and a devoted grandmother to Michael (Megan) and Erin. She took great joy in her role as Great-Grandmother (“GG”) to Finley, and was predeceased by her great-grandchild, Shaylan.

She is survived by her sisters Cora (Claude) and Jane; her sisters-in-law Aggie, Penny, Liz, and Danielle; and her brothers-in-law Roy, Jim, and Doug. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Marybel Massey, as well as her siblings Heather (Garnet), Helen (Earl), Blyth, and Eldon, and other dear family members who predeceased her.

Fern will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family, as well as her friends in the UCW, her colleagues with the RCMP in Latent Fingerprinting, and her many card-playing companions.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Stoneridge Manor for their care and dedication, and to Dr. Buckley for her compassion and support.

Visitation will be held at Tubman Funeral Home Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at 3:00pm. Reception to follow.
