Grace Kingston

November 1, 1921 – March 19, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet angel, Grace Kingston (nee Boyd), on March 19, 2023, in her 102nd year at the Ottawa General Hospital.

Grace was born in Osgoode, ON to Harry and Dolly Boyd.  She lived in Osgoode all her life until she moved to Orchard Walk Retirement Community in Greely, ON.  She spent all her summers at the family cottage on the Rideau River which was built by her father in the year she was born.  She was proud of her family history in Osgoode and the family business, Boyd Bros.,  which was started by her father and uncle and was responsible for many distinctive block homes and buildings in the Ottawa Valley and is still going strong.

She always maintained a positive outlook on life and was inspiring as she continued to participate in whatever social events she could get to as her years were advancing.  If the bus from Orchard Walk was going on an outing, she was on it.  If there were a Bingo, she was there.  She loved her trips to Alaska, the Baltics, Hawaii, numerous winter trip to Florida, and west to B.C. to visit daughter Sherry and family, and anywhere else she was able to go.

Grace was predeceased by her husband Oscar in 2006.  She will be lovingly missed by her children Dick (Mary), Sherry (Ken), grandchildren Debbie, David (Erika), Andrew (Sonia), Melissa (Tom) and great grandchildren Brandy, Sean, Connor, Logan, Forrest, Petal, Berkley and Lachlan.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital who cared for her in her last days and especially the staff at Orchard Walk Retirement Home who were so supportive of her needs while she was a resident there for the last 14 years.  A private family gathering is planned.

The family would appreciate donations in memory of Grace, be sent to St. Paul's Anglican Church, 5462 Osgoode Main Street, Osgoode, ON  K0A 2W0

She will be truly missed.  We loved her so.
