It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Anna Maria Pinto (Lindermeier) on June 14, 2026, at the age of 76. Eva faced cancer with remarkable strength and dignity until the very end. In her final days, she was surrounded by the love of her children and the support of dear friends.
Born on November 27, 1949, in Regensburg, Germany, Eva carried with her the spirit of a proud and tenacious Bavarian. At the age of 18, she came to Canada to learn English, where she soon met and married Carlos Pinto, who predeceased her in September 2025. Together, they built a life in Brampton, where they raised their three children.
Eva’s approach to life was anchored by a simple idea — “don’t think, just do” — a philosophy that shaped her actions and her deep devotion to family and friends. In her image, Eva wished for the lives of her children to be rich with travel and adventure: skiing in the Canadian Rockies, camping on Beausoleil Island in Georgian Bay, and returning each summer to her hometown of Regensburg. Her children will forever remember cycling through the German countryside, their tiny legs racing to keep up with her steady pace, with frequent breaks for ice cream, fries, and Eine Halbe Weizen (or Spezi, for the children).
Eva also had a deep passion for gardening, creating and curating beautiful, masterful gardens wherever she lived, in which she found solitude and space for quiet reflection.
She touched the lives of many through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for others. Volunteer work and a steadfast commitment to just causes were defining parts of who she was.
The beloved mother of Collin (Dana), Melanie, and Daniel (Laura), Eva was also a proud and devoted grandmother to Isla, Anthony, Angus, and Max. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment with them. Eva will be remembered for her strength in the face of adversity, her caring nature, and her ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and loved — a compassion that extended beyond her family to her beloved animals in home and garden. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in her family and in the memories she created with all those fortunate enough to know her.
Honouring Eva’s wishes, the family will hold a private Celebration of Life.
Donations in Eva's memory may be made to March of Dimes Canada, with whom she volunteered, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
