With heavy hearts, the family of Erva Jean Watkins (Routliffe) announces her peaceful passing on October 20, 2025, at the age of 87, in Ottawa.
Erva was the beloved wife of Roy Lewis Watkins and loving mother of Michael Thomas Watkins (Nicole Provost). She was a cherished grandmother to Lara Watkins-Johnston and Samantha Yeadon, and a proud great-grandmother to Connor, Alice, Adeline, and Wesley. She was a woman with a big heart who knew that family is both blood and those you choose to love. Erva did not hesitate to share her love with Nicole Provost, along with her children; Chantal and Paul. She warmly welcomed Alexis, Gabrielle, Tessa, and Nash as her great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sisters Audrey Pearce, Dorothy Renaud, Joyce Guilbeault, and Lorraine Roud, and by her brother Gordon Routliffe. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Eileen Routliffe, Phyllis Lind, Lorna Lee, Carol Lee, Pat Dunbar, and Wendy Routliffe, as well as her many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Erva will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and love of life’s simple joys. She found happiness in quilting, the thrill of always winning at bingo, and never said no to a scoop of ice cream. Above all, she treasured her family deeply and filled every room with kindness and laughter.
The family extends their sincere thanks to the compassionate staff at Forest Valley Assisted Living for their care, kindness, and support.
Friends and family are invited to Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a chapel service to follow.
In memory of Erva, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
