Emilia Sas

Dr. Emilia Sas, born on Dec. 5, 1927 and passed away peacefully on Nov. 25, 2025. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Joseph Sas. Loving mother to Joseph and Silvia, and grandmother to Alanna. Sister to predeceased Teresa and Andres.

Born in Hungary, she trained as a dermatologist and wed the love of her life before moving to Uruguay, where she trained and worked as a physiotherapist. After moving to Canada, at the University of Ottawa, she was a professor of anatomy and conducted research in neuroanatomy. For decades, she educated and inspired future physicians and nurses.

She was a lover of all things beautiful, from the blossoms of her immaculate garden to the sound of music that served as the soundtrack to many family dinners.

As a mother and grandmother, her passion and fierceness was without equal. She was the living embodiment of female excellence and strength, (anything you can do, she probably could do better!). She will be missed.

Private funeral service will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery.
