Elma Balharrie

Elma passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023, in her 104^th year.

She is survived by her daughters Ruth (Robert LeBreton) and Joan (late John Biro) and her stepdaughter Beth Balharrie (Michael) and stepson Paul Balharrie and her grand-daughter Lisa (Kevin Haime) and her great-grandsons, Jake (Melissa) and Jackson and many nieces and nephews.

Elma was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Beatrice Smith; her sisters Jean (Leslie McMillan), Roberta (Erwin Laughren), Isabelle (George Lamb) and her brother Ebert (Marjorie Smith).

We wish to thank the staff at New Orchard Lodge for their excellent care. Also, to thank her niece Lynn Smith for her devotion to her dear Auntie by special visits every week.  

Mom will be remembered for her strength, dignity, and respect for others (and her quiet, cheerful humming). Never one to complain, she lived by the motto “Just make the best of every situation”.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Ottawa Food Bank or The Mission.

Arrangements are in the care of Tubman’s Garden Chapel. Celebration of Life is private with family.
