Ellen Mercedes Little

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving Mother Ellen Mercedes Little, 86; a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend on April 30, 2024. Mom has taken her last step of her life journey peacefully and surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. After a lengthy battle with dementia, Mom leaves behind her daughters and sons-in-Laws, Deborah Taylor (Ken Provost), Cynthia Little (Dave Armstrong), Jacqueline Little (Ralph Storey) and much-loved grandson Jesse Taylor (Alicia Alberton). Loving thoughts are extended to Mom’s incredible special best friends, Carolyn, and Al Bingham. Mom was born in Port Morien, NS (1937) and is predeceased by our Dad John Little, her parents James and Mary (MacIsaac) Curry and her brothers Pat, John, Earl, Tom, Russell, and sister Mary. Also left to mourn is Mom’s last surviving baby brother Ronnie Curry (Diane Kendall) of Sydney, NS. Mom was a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada and volunteer with Victoria Quilts for those living with cancer. Mom will be remembered lovingly by all who had the good fortune to know her and be considered one of her special people. 

A special heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff at New Orchard Lodge, first floor, whose compassionate and capable caregiving was/is immeasurable – especially to Mirell. At Mom’s request, there will be no visitation. A service to celebrate Mom and her life will be held at a later date. On behalf of our mom, please carry forward acts of kindness and compassion to oneself and others.
