Douglas Kennedy

DOUGLAS ALLEN KENNEDY
1942-2022

In hospital, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the age of 80.  Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Allen and Verna Kennedy (D’Entremont). Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen Kennedy (Keays), his daughter Maria  (Brian Burchill), grandson Matthew Burchill, his sister Maureen Carrier (Paul) and niece Allison Carrier and nephew Brad Carrier.

He attended University of Ottawa and received his PhD in Microbiology/Immunology in October of 1977. He joined the staff of Defence Research Establishment Suffield (D.R.E.S.O.). He then joined Health Canada at the Laboratory Centre for Disease Control (L.C.D.C.) and the Drugs Directorate, Bureau of Biologics. During his last position, he consulted with the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) on blood safety issues.

His home life was filled with his love for his cats, dogs, breeding of thoroughbred horses and supporting his wife at many horse shows.
