Douglas Charles Gibson
Douglas Charles Gibson passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital early Monday morning, January 9, 2023 after having enjoyed very special Christmas holidays with his loving family.
Doug was born on February 6, 1940 to Louvina and Henry Gibson, in his beloved Montreal. He was married to the love of his life, Linda Oman, in 1963 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. They enjoyed almost 60 beautiful years together. They shared a life long love of family above all, as well as memorable cottage times, camping and travel adventures together.
Doug was the very proud and much loved father of Dean (Lise Esler), Glenda (Detlev Grad), and Cinda Gibson (Christopher Dettling).
Doug was a special Granddad to Noel Gibson, Riley, Avery and Peyton Stewart, and Tanner (Chandler), Hunter, Carter and Ella Grad, all of whose accomplishments and education he followed with much encouragement and pride.
He will be dearly missed, but remembered with much love, by sister June Gibson (Walter Orlow), and his sister-in-law Laura (Jack Chang d.), and by many nieces and nephews. One of five children, he is pre-deceased by his siblings Henry (Dorothy), Lorne (Vi), and Heather (Yvan).
Doug found much enjoyment in his large circle of good friends, both old and newer, who were of great importance to him.
Doug enjoyed the opportunities that his career n the travel and marketing industry provided him - to live and explore with his family in the Eastern United States and Western Canada. He was also happy to ultimately settle his family in Ottawa.
His interest in all things and all people was a hallmark of his personality, and he will be remembered for his sincere caring, love of family, his sense of humour, and his devotion to his team 'Les Canadiens' !
A very special thanks for all the care and support of the 5th floor AMA staff at the Civic Campus of TOH.
In lieu of flowers, you may wish to consider a donation to The Ottawa Hospital-Civic Campus.
