Douglas John Demers

Doug passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 6, 2025 at age 82. His memory and love will be cherished by his wife of 60 years, Margaret (née Peskett), and his beloved daughters Mandy (Brian Collins) and Beth (Scott Henley). He found his greatest joy in his grandchildren, Charlotte (Collins), and Grace, Connor and Declan (Henley). Predeceased by his parents John and Evelyn (née Robinson), and his brother Leslie, Doug is fondly remembered by his siblings, Donald (Eileen), Lynda (Don Kuliasa), Eileen (Wayne Barkhouse) and Hilton (Helen).

Doug’s wisdom, empathy, and knowledge were the touchstones of his over 35-year career as an educator. His life centered around his family and service to his community, most notably as a 41-year distinguished member of the Manotick Kiwanis Club.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 2, 2026 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Manotick Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, 5550 Ann St., Manotick Ontario.
