Doris Edrie Marcellus

August 1, 1943 — March 21, 2024

With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Doris (Patterson) Marcellus on March 21, 2024 at the General Hospital from heart failure.

She was the beloved wife of Graham for 59 years, the loving mother of Joanne Favell (Glenn), Jeffrey and James (Tracy) and grammie to Rachel and Scott. Predeceased by her parents John and Edrie Patterson. Survived by her sister Eleanor Cooper (late Bob), her brothers Colin (partner Diane) and Don (Elizabeth), and by her sister-in-law Barbara (late Dale). Doris will be remembered fondly by her extended family, including many cousins, nieces, nephews and family friends.

Doris was known for her kindness, her thoughtfulness and her generous heart. She had a rewarding career as a teacher with the Carleton Board of Education before she retired in 1998. Beyond her career, she was dedicated to family and friends. She was the heart of the family and an endlessly patient and proud mother, a dedicated and loyal wife and was constantly in awe of her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending 67s games with Graham and watching Jeopardy. She was an avid reader spending time sitting in the sunshine by her patio door reading a book.

Friends may visit the family at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes (near Bayshore) on April 14, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 to join a celebration of Doris' life as we reminisce about the joy she brought into our lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris' memory can be made to The Education Foundation of Ottawa or to a charity of your choice.
