On June 3rd, 2025, our beloved mother, Doreen Wylie died after a long battle with colon cancer. She now rests in the arms of the Savior, free from pain and sorrow, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty.
Doreen was born in Stephenville, Newfoundland on September 30th, 1934, to James and Sarah Jane White. Throughout her life, Doreen remained a proud Newfoundlander cherishing the songs and traditions of her beloved province of Newfoundland.
Doreen was a talented piano player, playing almost any song by ear. She was a skilled crafter – finding happiness knitting and crocheting hats, mitts and dolls for charity. Most of all, Doreen was a woman of deep spiritual faith. While we grieve her passing, we find solace in the hope of Christ’s resurrection and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God’s eternal kingdom.
Doreen is survived by her husband Jack Wylie and children, Peggy (Rob Schmitter), John (Sandy McIntyre) and Paul (Liz Wylie), as well as her five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also remembered with love by her sisters, Magdalen Staron and Zita Guertin, and brother Ronnie White. Doreen is predeceased by her son Mark Wylie, her parents, her sisters Dean and Joan, her brothers Clarence, Raymond, and Earl.
A private family funeral will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
