It is with deep love and profound sadness that we share the passing of Diane MacDonald (née Ouellette), a truly gentle and compassionate soul who made the world a brighter, kinder place.
Diane lived a life rooted in kindness, deep love, quiet strength, and unwavering care for others. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply appreciated. With her warm presence, beautiful smile, and soft-spoken nature, she brought comfort and light to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Above all, Diane was a devoted wife to David, a loving mother to Chantal (Jonathan) and Daniel (Bryn), and a cherished grandmother to Aneese, Cade, Evelyn, Flora, and Winifred, each of whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. She was the beloved daughter of the late Carmel and Denis, sister to Richard, sister-in-law to Mary Angela (Brettel) and Brendan (Maureen), and predeceased by Ian and Brian.
Diane expressed her love in countless ways, through steady encouragement, quiet support, and a constant, unwavering presence. As a mother, she poured her heart into her children’s happiness, nurturing their passions and ensuring they always felt supported and loved. As a grandmother (affectionately called didi), she delighted in every moment. You would find her down on the floor playing with the children, sharing in laughter, surrounding them with thoughtful toys and learning, and living her sign’s motto: “If Mom and Dad say no, ask Grandma!”
Although she possessed remarkable intelligence and a natural beauty, Diane carried herself with genuine humility and an easy lightness, often laughing at herself—something that made family board game nights both hilarious and memorable. She believed that love was best expressed in life’s simplest, most thoughtful moments. Whether through baking treats, preparing family meals, sewing with care, helping with research, or thoughtfully spoiling those she loved, Diane gave of herself endlessly and without expectation.
She found joy in health and wellness, especially when it could be shared. From her early days coaching figure skating to her passion for yoga and clean living, she had a natural ability to uplift and inspire others on their own journeys; always offered with sincerity and a genuine desire to help. This same kindness defined her professional life, where she led with empathy, compassion, and a deep commitment to mentoring others.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends, and by all who were touched by her gentle heart and extraordinary kindness.
A private celebration of her life will be held with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Diane are invited to carry forward her spirit with a simple act of kindness for someone else.
Diane’s love lives on in quiet moments, warm memories, and in the gentle ways we continue to care for one another; just as she always did.
