Denyse Bates (nee Sibley)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denyse Bates on January 10, 2026, at the age of 78. Denyse passed away peacefully at May Court Hospice. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Bates, cherished mother of Michael and Jennifer (Wayne Hodges), and a loving grandmother to five grandchildren and the great-grandmother of one.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road on Thursday, January 15 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Friday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow from 12pm to 2pm at the Westboro Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 480, 389-391 Richmond Road, Ottawa.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Denyse’s memory to May Court Hospice, whose compassionate care brought comfort during her final days.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
