Dennis Gibson

Peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Dennis Gibson passed away at the age of 85.

Beloved husband of the late Susan Marie Gibson (née Steer), Dennis was born on May 10, 1941, and raised in Dysart, Saskatchewan. He was the cherished son of the late Archie and Mary Gibson. Dennis was predeceased by his sisters Elaine Dumba (Andrew), Lois Czemeres (Alvin), and Cathy Miller (William).

Dennis enjoyed a distinguished career as a Foreign Service Officer with the Government of Canada, serving with dedication and quiet professionalism. He had a lifelong passion for golf and treasured the time he spent at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, where the game and camaraderie brought him great joy. Dennis and Susan shared this passion for many years and in retirement often used it as a basis for planning their travels.

Dennis is survived by his brother-in-law, Ronald Steer, and Ronald’s wife, Sheilagh.

He leaves behind his nieces and nephews: David Steer (Delee Belt), Jennifer Steer (Henry Logan), Curtis Czemeres (Kim), Jeffrey Czemeres (Sherri Lockwood), Michelle Tobin, Kevin Dumba (Nadia Ukrainetz), Trevor Dumba (Isabel Craig), Shannon Dumba, and Rob Miller (Meagan), as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He will be fondly remembered by his friends and colleagues, and by all who appreciated his steady presence, thoughtful nature, and love of the game.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
