David peacefully slipped away at home on October 14th, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.
Beloved husband of Susie Miller, devoted father of Dean Maki (Kyla Arden), proud grandfather of Kallia and Senna, and guiding stepfather of Court Miller (Aretha Heenan).
David was born on August 16th 1944 in Whitewood, Saskatchewan, and worked as a farmer, fisher, miner, labour organizer and Justice of the Peace. Predeceased by his parents Eino and Myra Maki and sisters Karen Tverkutes and Linda Maki, David will be greatly missed by his siblings and their spouses, Judy (Stan) Johnstone, Bill Tverkutes, Perry (Donna) Erhardt and Carmelita Agdomar, as well as his nieces and nephews.
David was an enthusiastic participant in the Miller family activities and will be lovingly remembered by Susie’s siblings and their families, and by her many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Many thanks to his wonderful health care providers; his family physician Dr. Elizabeth Sawyers, Drs. Maziak and Moore and the oncology team at the Ottawa Hospital, and Dr. Goindi and the palliative care workers, as well as Shay Allen and Rae Bradford, who helped Susie make David’s last days comfortable.
David’s family and friends are welcoming you to a celebration of his life, Tuesday, November 4th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Carleton Heights Community Centre, 1665 Apeldoorn Avenue, Ottawa.
