David died peacefully at home in Manotick, after a long illness, in his 90th year, surrounded by family. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Melanie (née Scharf); daughters Rosemary (Barry) and Stephanie (Ronald); grandchildren Jeremy (Kelly), Barry (Jessica), Scott (Logan), and Margaret (Jacob); and great-grandchildren Lauren, Coby, Ben, Lily, Sophie, and Jacob; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson James.
David was proud of his Celtic roots and was born and raised in Westboro, Ottawa — the third youngest in a family of thirteen. Survived by his sister Pat Crawshaw.
He began his working life with CP Rail, later became a long-haul truck driver with McKinlay Transport, and retired after 25 years as Operator #650 with OC Transpo.
A private family service will be held.
