In loving Memory of Dave Longley
Born May 14, 1940, he left us on July 12, 2022.
He was born and raised in Montreal but loved living in the country on a farm where he had his own grass airstrip for his aircrafts
He was a lover of nature and animals, and was a gentlemen and a gracious soul.
Dave had a need for speed! As witnessed by his 1964 Jaguar XKE, his racing and road motorcycles, his airplanes, his snowmobiles. He even liked to go fast on his bicycle.
One of the highlights of his track day career, was to race at Phillip Island in Australia, and his favourite track in Ontario was Mosport where he sometimes met up with his son Rob on the track. Rob will really miss his time with Dave at the track.
Dave was interested in all Sports and was as competitive as they come. He was known for speed skating the length of the canal, running (50 mile cross country), wrist wrestling, and avidly worked out everyday in his home gym with Arlene.
He enjoyed music (both country and opera), played the piano and the guitar.
He had a long and proud career at Bell Canada, in Montreal, Goose Bay NFLD, and Ottawa where he retired after 35 years of service.
The care given to Dave by the nurses, doctors and support staff at the General Hospital, University of Ottawa Heart Institute and the Queensway Carleton Hospital was outstanding and caring.
Dave is survived by his wife Arlene Longley of 29 years, and his son Rob Longley.
Rest in Peace dear Dave, you will be missed and never forgotten.
Donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation in Dave’s honour would be appreciated.
