Leonard David Carkner

1961 - 2023

Passed away in hospital in the early hours of Thursday June 22, 2023,  after a brave battle with illness and lymphoma.

Dearly loved father of Jacob and beloved brother of Linda (Dan McCann) and Glen (Penny).  Predeceased by his parents, Wesley and Joyce Carkner.  Dear uncle of Jennifer, Amanda, Kyle (Ashley), Wesley and great-uncle of Lily, Holly and Bradley.

When he was young, Dave enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Cole Lake where he would fish and enjoy swimming. We always joked that it should have been called Cold Lake and not Cole Lake due to the overly cool temperature of the water.

Dave was outgoing and considered himself lucky to have many good friends.  He was loyal and when he was well, he could be depended on to help those who needed it.  From this, Dave had those who checked in on him and helped during his long illness.  Kathleen Morris, you were especially appreciated by Dave for your kindness ( and the delicious meals !).

Dave was a true lover of the Montreal Canadiens and they have lost their number one fan.  

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Tubman Funeral Homes, Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Saturday July 8, 2023 from 2 - 4 pm.  Please join us to share memories of Dave.
