Died peacefully at the QCH on October 16th, 2024. Dan leaves behind his dear wife of 55 years, Susan, his children Steven (Sarah), Jodi, his 3 grandchildren, Zoe, Sidney and Avery. Fury friends Gus and Anna. Brother to Sharon, Bob (Debbie) the late Tom (Mary). Son of the late Stephen and Virginia Smith. Also survived by his brother-in-law Mike (Mel). Affectionately remembered by his cousins, nieces, great nieces, great nephews and neighbours.

Dan will be remembered for his wildly absurd sense of humour and his proclivity for ice cream, cowboy movies, manicured lawns and anything that needed engine oil.

Much appreciation for Dan’s GP, Dr. Jessie Li, and her 4 legged assistant, Dusty, the therapy dog, the vibrant and caring staff at Carefor’s Day Program, Barrhaven Manor for their kindness and warmth and for all of the dedicated staff who helped Dan in his last days at the QCH.

A memorial reception will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 11 am - 2 pm with words of remembrance being shared at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ottawa Heart Institute, The Queensway Carleton Hospital or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
