Constance Ruth Gillespie

Constance Ruth Gillespie (Ruth) peacefully passed away on Monday June 2, 2025, at the age of 91. She is survived by daughters Vicki (Darrell) Harvey, Christine (Dave Chaudhari) Gillespie, Alison (Richard) Thomas and Sheila (Rob) Dowell. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Brenden, Conlin, Duncan, William, Lauren, Marlaina (Jon) and Scott (Véro) of whom she was very proud.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 63 years (Harvey). Ruth was a proud Ottawa Civic Hospital nursing graduate, class of 1954. She was privileged to have been able to celebrate her 70th nursing reunion in 2024.

After a lengthy nursing career, Ruth graduated from Carleton University with her BA in Psychology and began volunteering with the Ottawa Civic Hospital Auxiliary.

Ruth loved her garden, lawn bowling and spending time with friends and family.

A memorial reception will be held at Tubman Funeral Homes, Westboro Chapel, 403 Richmond Rd. (at Roosevelt) on Friday June 6, 2025 from 2 – 4 pm.
