With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Clayton Edward Lortie on February 4, 2023. Son of Steven Lortie and Sharon Roy, brother to Jason Lortie, Curtis Lortie and Sophie Roy, father to Ilyas, stepson to Gilles Roy.
Clayton was born in Ottawa but raised in Balderson and Perth. He was fun-loving, sweet, kind and caring. He always had a giant smile or big belly laugh, when sharing or hearing stories and jokes. He called to “check in” nearly daily, always cheerful. As a young child, if given a cookie, he asked for two – one for his big brother Jason. He was an enthusiastic young athlete, playing hockey and baseball growing up and football in high school. Clayton loved rock music and played the drums with his buddies in a band (Recoil) in high school. He had many friends as a boy, a teen and a young man. He attended Maple Grove Public School (Lanark), QE Public School (Perth), Perth & District Collegiate Institute and Bell High School (Ottawa).
While he wanted to be a successful business owner (RecRoomRenos) and a good father, he unfortunately struggled in his last years. During this period of great struggle, we never ceased loving him and remembering the wonderful, kind and adorable person that once was. And despite his struggles, there was never any doubt how much he loved his son, Ilyas.
We will be holding a very informal drop-in to remember Clayton on Sunday February 19, 2023, 2-4pm at Knox United Church, 25 Gibbard Ave, Nepean. Come and drop by for a coffee and visit, at any time. Bring a memory or a story about him, if you have one.
While we know you may want to send flowers, we ask that you please not and, in lieu, kindly consider a donation to any local addictions program.
